Connect to the T-Cross

The Volkswagen T-Cross will be available from launch with its VW Connect dataplug.

In June 2019, Volkswagen Group South Africa confirmed the addition of the T-Cross model to its local SUV range. The T-Cross now confirmed to be launched in September 2019, will be offered with Volkswagen’s VW Connect dataplug. Forming part of Volkswagen’s global strategy to digitise and develop cars into being a central hub on the Internet of Things, the VW Connect dataplug will offer a variety of functions for South African T-Cross owners.

The dataplug will need to be connected to the Onboard Diagnostic Interface after which data pertaining to the vehicle’s car servicing, the assessment of driving style and an overview of the fuel consumption monitor will be sent via Bluetooth to your mobile phone. Additional the dataplug features automated saving of car location, digital logbook including the option to export it, collecting of trophies and points and 24/7 contact to the Volkswagen Assist hotline functionality. While Volkswagen South Africa offered AppConnect for vehicle owners since 2016 and currently offer My VW App to customers, the new dataplug will replace those services from its launch alongside the T-Cross in September 2019.
