Kia introduces the new Seltos

The new Seltos which will be manufactured in both India and Korea will also be a new entrant in the Indian market with the highest number of dealerships ever seen.

On the front of the vehicle, you will find the familiar ‘tiger nose grille’ from Kia in between the full LED headlights which also has LED daytime running lights and 3D multi-layer indicators. The rear and fog lights are also full LED. The front splitter on the lower front bumper and the rear diffuser, as well as a decorative feature on the rear bumper, will get a metallic silver finish. In the four corners, there is a choice of crystal cut alloy wheels ranging from 16-inches to 18-inches.

The inside sees the addition of a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with split-screen functionality which will control the Sound Mood Lighting featuring eight colours and six themes on the 3D-patterned door panels. This will pulse to the beat coming from an optional eight-speaker Bose audio system. The driver has an 8.0-inch Head-up display system which not only displays the vehicle speed but also navigation directions.

The Seltos will have six airbags, Vehicle Stability Management system as standard and will also incorporate traction control and electronic stability control. Anti-lock Braking System, Traction Control System, a Brake-force Assist System and Hill-start Assist Control, as well as front and rear parking sensors will be installed based on model and country.

The powertrain offering will include naturally aspirated and turbocharged petrol engines and also turbocharged diesel options of its third-generation engines which include Kia’s Smartstream technology. Transmissions will come in the form of a seven-speed dual clutch transmission, a six-speed automatic transmission and a continuously variable transmission. Different global markets will receive different engine and transmission options, price and final features available for the South African bound derivatives will be announced closer to the local launch expected in early 2020.
