Comedy fest returns to Jozi

Audiences are in for a treat with international superstars such as the enigmatic Dane Baptiste from the UK and Britain’s Got Talent finalist Daliso Chaponda from Malawi.

The Johannesburg International Comedy Festival (JICF) will be back in 2019 with over 40 comedians performing in seven shows over four days.

The JICF will return to Joburg with a mouth-watering feast of world-class comedy over four days of side-splitting funny.

JICF will showcase its third edition with over 40 local, continental and international comedians taking over the Nelson Mandela and The Fringe theatres at Joburg Theatre in Braamfontein, from March 14 to 17.

The finest comedian performing in the United Arab Emirates, Ali Al Sayed forms part of the first wave of internationals coming to SA shores.

More international acts are to be confirmed over the next few weeks.

Performing alongside guest comedians will be some of Mzansi’s finest talents such as Loyiso Gola, John Vlismas, Tumi Morake, Conrad Koch and Chester Missing, Kagiso Lediga, Schalk Bezuidenhout amongst others to be confirmed in due course.

In keeping with its commitment to providing a platform for young and exciting talent, JICF will is proud to provide Tsitsi Chiumya, KG Mokgadi and Prins with their debut showings at the festival.

The line-up is as follows:

• League of Nations hosted by Conrad Koch & Chester Missing (South Africa) and Nelson Mandela Stage, Joburg Theatre on March 15 at 8.30pm.

• Stand Up Africa hosted by Tumi Morake (South Africa) at Nelson Mandela Stage, Joburg Theatre at 6.30pm on March 16.

• Fire In The Hole hosted by John Vlismas (South Africa) at Nelson Mandela Stage, Joburg Theatre on March 16 at 9pm.

• One Night Stands featuring Loyiso Gola at The Fringe, Joburg Theatre on March 15 at 7pm; Schalk Bezuidenhout at The Fringe, Joburg Theatre on March 16 at 5.30pm.
