First Relay for Life Bedfordview to be hosted at Italian Club

This year’s relay theme will be Hippy Revival.

The Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa) will host the first annual Cansa Relay For Life Bedfordview event on November 9 at the Italian Club, Bedfordview.

This year’s relay theme will be Hippy Revival and Cansa encouraged business owners, employees, families and friends to join in on the fun.

The relay will start at 4pm when teams will take turns walking a track until midnight.

This will give the community the opportunity to build team spirit.

Participants will be able to enjoy camping-out, entertainment, good food, games and team building.

Cansa Relay For Life is aimed at getting communities and cancer survivors involved and offers the opportunity for cancer patients to be celebrated as the survivors they are.

The Luminaria ceremony will grant the families of cancer survivors a chance to remember those who have lost the fight, as well as those still fighting.

At the ceremony, candles will be lit and placed around the relay track as glowing tributes to those who have been affected by cancer.

The candles will remain lit throughout Relay For Life until the closing ceremony.
