LISTEN: Festival fun in store for Edenvale

The Christmas lights, which line the boulevards, will be switched on and remain on until January.

With the end of the year fast approaching, community members can look forward to Edenvale City Improvement District’s Festival of Lights and Street Carnival.

The annual festival, which brings the community together, is one of the biggest events for the town.

ECID public relations officer and events coordinator Katy Young said 2018 will be the fourth year that the festival has been held.

“This year the ECID Festival of Lights and Street Carnival is set to be bigger and better than ever,” said Katy.

It will start at 11 am and end at 9 pm.

Community members will enjoy a variety of entertainment ranging from a brass band, drum majorettes, carnival troupe, Zulu dancers, buskers and much more.

Youngsters can look forward to paddle boats, a mini train, Santa’s Grotto and children play area.

The Bambanani Brass Band which will be performing at the ECID Festival of Lights and Street Carnival this year.

In addition to entertainment and fun-filled activities, there will be a beer garden, a deli, food stalls and handcrafted items for sale.

“Lots of security will ensure that everyone stays safe and enjoys the festivities,” said Katy.

As the festival continues into the evening, the Christmas lights, which line the boulevards, will be switched on and remain on until January.
