Joburg east’s Mceboz releases his first single

JOBURG – I realised that I had a calling in music during my school years. I would often lead a school choir at Msenteli Primary School assembly.

Denver resident Cebolenkosi Mzomuhle Zulu released Happy Song, his single, earlier this year.

Better known as Mceboz, the 24-year-old artist is currently a petrol attendant.

“I’m originally from Nongoma, a rural area called Esphambanweni. I decided to name my single Happy Song because it’s a song of love. I want people to be happy. No matter how difficult the situation is for them, they must cherish life. The single is afro house music,” he said.

Mceboz said he started singing from a very young age.

“I realised that I had a calling in music during my school years. I would often lead a school choir at Msenteli Primary School assembly. I also used to sing at church.

“Becoming an artist has always been a dream for me but I come from a poor family. After completing my matric I was unable to further my studies due to lack of financial support.

“I looked for a job and started working. I am now able to balance my work and push my music career at the same time,” he said.

Mceboz said he is not where he dreams to be but he believes that he will make his dreams a reality one day.

“I started recording my own songs in 2011. I was inspired by Loyiso Bala and I always looked up to Zola7 when growing up. His song, Stars, is my favourite. I would like to become like him and assist young artists to fulfil their dreams,” he said.

He completed his matric in 2013.

“My biggest wish is to go back to school. I would like to study journalism. I am currently working on an album and it will be released next year,” he said.
