To help the place of safety the Firefighters SA Association will host ‘Party With a Purpose’ at SAEC’s premises.

Leon Swanepoel, head of the Firefighters SA Association’s supporters group, said the motorcycle association started assisting the place of safety last year.

“Helping Potters Haven last year was an emotional experience,” said Leon.

“We gave the children Christmas presents and treats, they were so excited.”

Children were also given the opportunity to have a ride on a motorcycle.

Toddlers were taken for a ride in the association’s Jeep.

This year the association hopes to raise R20 000 for the home.

The funds will be used to pay for school uniforms and cover learners’ registration fees.

“It is important to give back to the community,” said Swanepoel.

“Helping Potters Haven will help the country’s youth.”

Community members can look forward to live music and fun for the whole family at ‘Party With a Purpose’.

Limited edition t-shirts will be available for purchase at the event.

The event will cost community members R60 to enter.

The party will be held between 11am and 5pm on February 18.

‘Party With a Purpose’ will be held at Firemans Tavern at Ardeer Road in Modderfontein.

“This is the association’s first charity event,” said Swanepoel.

“We look forward to working with the community and helping others in need.”
