So much on offer at the theatre

JOBURG – Check out what's on at the People's Theatre this year.

The People’s Theatre is a place where children can enjoy the theatre and this year will be no different.

It has been an establishment for children to visit and enjoy for more than 20 years and they’re still rolling out some of the best children’s theatre.

With auditions for Winnie the Pooh having kicked off on 17 January, the theatre is excited to share all the wonderful productions they will be presenting this year.

Having recently acquired the rights to the Disney production of Winnie the Pooh, they are thrilled to present this as their first show of the year. Running in March and April, the AA Milne story will captivate young and old audiences as the cast explores what dreams are made of, on stage.

The second of the year’s productions will be Cinderella, the timeless fairy tale that never fails to enchant children and adults alike. The Disney stage adaptation will bring to life some of the classic songs from the movie including A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes and Biddidi-Bobbidi-Boo.

The following production is a People’s Theatre staple that has become quite popular over the years. The Educational Theatre school programme will take place during September and October. This is the part of the year during when children and entire schools are encouraged to take part in workshops and become more involved in the theatre. Children and teachers are given educational resources which can be used to encourage confidence and better behaviour in the classroom.
