New commander meets Troyville community

“I am prepared and committed to ensure that the community at Jeppe Precinct and surrounding area safe and secured.

The community of Troyville had an opportunity to meet with the new Jeppe SAPS station commander Brigadier David Mbongenui Ngcobo at the sector meeting on May 21 at David Webster Community Centre.

Residents shared their concerns in terms of safety in their area with the brigadier and pleaded with him to attend to the challenges.

The issues that were raised included noise pollution at the corner of Main Street during weekends, and muggings.

One resident said they feel unsafe reporting muggings because it is committed by people they know.

Residents said they report the incidents, but see the offenders back on the streets a few days later.

More patrolling has been requested as police visibility makes a difference.

Another concern raised was sidewalk business. Many complained about people leaving stuff lying around and people are not able to walk on the sidewalks.

Brigadier Ngcobo promised residents that he will look into the problems with the help of the Jeppe Community Police Forum and ward councillors.

Residents at the meeting pledged their support to Brigadier Ngcobo.

“I am prepared and committed to ensure that the communities of Jeppe police precinct and surrounding areas are safe and secured. I’m going to work with the community to make sure I visit each and every sector meeting in order to be informed what challenges the areas face on a daily basis and find ways to deal with them,” Brigadier Ngcobo said.
