Upkeep done on Frank Marret Park.

Overall the park gave off a more inviting appearance.

Frank Maret Park, which is situated next to the Eden Haven Retirement village, appeared to be rundown and neglected on April 2.

The NEWS noticed the grass was too long, the dustbin stand looked to be broken and the bench that should be used for seating was buckled and bent.

A spokesperson for the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality said, “According to the maintenance programme, the grass at Frank Maret Park is cut once a month.”

No comment was received regarding the bent bench.

Not only was the state of the park an eyesore, but on the same day, Eden Haven held its fête which led to an increase in pedestrian traffic past the park.

On April 13 the park was revisited. It was clearly evident that the maintenance team had cut the lawn and that the dustbin had been placed in a semi-upright position on its stand. Overall, the park gave off a more inviting appearance.
