Cancer awareness a growing movement

All funds raised went to Reach for Recovery, a non-profit organisation that helps women with healing and in attaining reconstructive surgery.

Breast Cancer Month kicked off in style, with the first annual invitational polo tournament hosted in aid of breast cancer.

All funds raised went to Reach for Recovery, a non-profit organisation that helps women with healing and in attaining reconstructive surgery.

Six women and two men participated in whacking wooden polo balls with their long-handled mallets at high speed from a horse in support of the cause.

In addition, young, emerging designers were identified and they had the opportunity to showcase their work on the day as part of a fashion theatre.

The show featured celebrity guests and a performance by award-winning artist, Lira.

The theatre also had performances from two female contortionists and four ballerinas from the Joburg Ballet.

Radio DJ and television presenter Tumi Vorster, musician and designer Nhlanhla Nciza and Miss Mamelodi Sundowns Matlala Mokoko stunned guests as they walked the ramp.

Rich Mnisi, Khothatso Tsotetsi and Tuelo Nguyuza delighted the audience with edgy designs while Lira, who has supported breast cancer campaigns over the years, brought beautiful soul music to the show.
