Russian artists for next JMS concert

Violinist Ilya Gringolts and pianist Peter Laul, from St Petersburg, will perform for the Johannesburg Musical Society in the Linder Auditorium, Parktown, on June 21 at 8pm.

Gringolts was the youngest ever competitor to win the Premio Paganini Competition in 1998. Laul was the recipient of an honorary medal from the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.

Gringolts, who plays a Stradivarius violin, has performed with orchestras of the stature of the Halle Orchestra, the Israeli Philharmonic and the Bamberg Symphony, and has recorded extensively for labels such as Deutsche Grammophon and Hyperion. Laul has played under the batons of conductors such as Valery Gergiev and Maxim Shostakovich and regularly performs chamber music with great artists such as Gary Hoffmann, Tedi Papavrami, David Grimal.

The Linder box office will open for ticket sales one hour before the start of the performance on June 21. There is no credit card facility at the box office.
