Weekend cricket action with LMS

Competition in the second half of Bedfordview’s Last Man Stands (LMS) summer league is heating up.

Log leaders across all three divisions are fighting off opponents in tightly contested matches.

Division 1 LMS games for last weekend kicked off on Thursday night, January 16, at Jeppe Quondam with The Cricket Gurus facing the Big Hitter’s.

The Gurus batted first and set up 109 runs for the loss of five wickets after 20 overs.

In reply, the Hitter’s only managed to score 99 runs for the loss of five wickets in their 20 over batting innings.

Playing back-to-back, games the Guru’s then went on to face Got_Cha the same night.

Gurus again batted first, this time setting up a target of 126 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs.

Got_Cha only reached 109 runs for the loss of six wickets in their batting innings.

On Friday, January 17, the Big Hitter’s faced Gangnam Style.

The Hitter’s were first to bat but could not make headway against the bowling attack of Gangnam Style.

The Hitter’s were all out for just 71 runs in 13 overs.

Gangnam Style reached their target of 72 runs in only 12 overs for the loss of two wickets.

Next up, the Green Mambas were set to take on Old School.

In 20 overs, Old School reached a score of 131 for the loss of seven wickets.

In reply, the Green Mambas made 99 runs in their 20 over batting innings to hand Old School a 32 run victory.

Saturday games kicked off when the Cricket Gurus took on the JDK Invaders.

The Invaders batted first and set up a massive 150 run target after 20 overs.

The Gurus scored 117 runs in their 20 batting innings to give the Invaders a 33 run victory.

On Sunday, January 19, the Bedfordview DareDevills faced the Green Mambas in the only division 1 game to be played at Elandspark School over the weekend.

The DareDevills batted first and set up a score of 81 runs all out after 17 overs.

The Green Mambas won the game by seven wickets when they reached the target in 13.3 overs.

Division 2 games dominated Saturday fixtures on January 18.

First up was the game between Bedfordview Rebels and Old School 2 at Jeppe Quondam.

Old School 2 batted first and scored 146 runs for the loss of five wickets after 20 overs.

In reply, the Rebels scored 122 for the loss of five wickets in their 20 over batting innings.

Rockafellas SA took on the Tool Saders at Elandspark School and won by seven wickets.

The Tool Saders batted first and set up a score of 74 all out after 17.1 overs.

Rockafellas SA reached the target in 13.2 overs for the loss of only one wicket.

Rockafellas SA then went on to face the RB Boys and beat them too.

RB Boys batted first and made 71 runs all out after 19.3 overs.

It only took Rockafellas SA 9.3 overs to beat the score for the loss of two wickets.

Playing at Jeppe Quondam, the ACS Hydromine DreamKillers took on the Fool Tossers and narrowly lost by nine runs.

The Fool Tossers batted first and set up a score of 103 runs for the loss of six wickets.

In reply, the DreamKillers scored 94 for the loss of six wickets in their 20 over batting innings.

On Sunday, January 19, Seven 5 faced the Tool Saders at Elandspark School.

The Tool Saders batted first and reached 127 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs.

Seven 5 just missed their target when they reached 113 runs for the loss of two wickets in their 20 over batting innings.

The Fool Tossers played the Deadbeats and lost by four wickets.

They batted first and were bowled out after 15 overs for only 72 runs.

In reply, the Deadbeats reached their target in 12.3 overs for the loss of four wickets.

Seven 5 and the Fool Tossers were next to take to the field.

The Fool Tossers batted first and scored 147 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs and in reply, Seven 5 only scored 133 runs.

In Division 3, the DP Boys took on the Toxic Bunnies.

The Toxic Bunnies batted first and scored 65 runs all out after 15.3 overs.

The DP Boys reached the target and scored 66 runs for the loss of six wickets in 16.4 overs.

Jeti Knights were next up when they faced the Young Lions.

The Jeti Knights batted first and scored 102 runs all out after 18.4 overs.

The Young Lions won the game by six wickets when they reached their target of 104 runs for the loss of two wickets in 17.1 overs.

Blood, Sweat and Brandy face the Cricket Tanks and batted first to score 168 runs for the loss of three wickets.

In reply, the Cricket Tanks scored 110 for the loss of three wickets.
