ECPF reviews 2013

The Edenvale Community Police Forum (ECPF) reported 2013 to be a year of successes.

“At the start of 2013, we embarked on massive anti-drug campaigns which saw us performing drug searches at schools, participating in anti-drug walks, teaming up with Karaglen’s Tiles for Change campaign and working with CrimeLine,” said the ECPF chairperson, Mrs Linda McKenzie.

She added that the forum’s executive committee also set out to work more closely with the senior citizens of Edenvale.

“We started our senior citizen’s database and worked with a number of old age homes to educate our senior citizens on issues surrounding their safety,” said Mrs McKenzie.

The ECPF also established relationships with Edenvale’s churches.

“Our relationship with Edenvale’s churches has never been better and we always have their support on our various projects,” she said.

“We also worked closely with various authorities to hand out drug awareness booklets at numerous roadblocks and assisted in acquiring the services of a registered sister to draw blood samples from those arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol,” said Mrs McKenzie.

The ECPF plans to continue its fight against drugs in Edenvale throughout 2014.

“We will also take a firm stance against corruption within the SAPS, as well as among members of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD),” said Mrs Mckenzie.

In 2014, the ECPF plans to highlight its Know Your Neighbour campaign as well as re-establish sector forums in Edenvale’s three sectors.

The first ECPF meeting for 2014 will take place on January 30 at Fahrenheit Seafood and Grill, situated on Terrace Road.

The meeting will begin at 7pm.
