Illegal dumping along Modderfontein continues

The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) has yet to comment on instances of illegal dumping on the P91.

Last December the NEWS received a photograph taken by a motorist of illegal dumping taking place on the roadside of Modderfontein Road.

According to the motorist, Ms Corinne French, she witnessed the illegal dumping and snapped a photograph.

When she sent it to the Edenvale branch of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD), she was told the area fell under the jurisdiction of the JMPD.

This is just one of many instances of illegal dumping along Modderfontein Road.

The NEWS sent the photograph, which clearly shows the licence plate number of the vehicle, to Inspector Edna Mamonyane from the JMPD media department for comment.

Insp Mamonyane was also asked if action would be taken and who residents can contact if they encounter illegal dumping.

The enquiry was sent on Tuesday, December 10, and comment was requested by December 12.

At the time of going to print no comment was received.
