Local athlete scoops top award
At the Inter Athletics, Zimkita achieved first place in the 400m, 800m, 1 500m and relay races.
Zimkita Mfuleni, a learner from Elandspark School, was awarded Female Athlete of the Year at the 2017 Ekurhuleni North District Enrichment awards ceremony.
Zimkita received the award for her dedication to athletics during the 2017 academic year.

At the Inter-Athletics event, Zimkita achieved first place in the 400m, 800m, 1 500m race and the relay races.
She also achieved first place in the 400m race at the Gauteng Championships. At the championships she also finished second in the 800m and 1 500m races.
Zimkita was awarded provincial colours and at the SA LSEN Championships, she finished first in the 400m and the relay races. She finished second in the 800m and 1 500m races.
