St Benedict’s u-11 tennis festival results

There was great support from all the participating schools namely, St Stithians, St John’s, St David’s, St Peter’s, Cornwall Hill, Pretoria-Oos and Louw Geldenhuys

Marciano Teixeira, Ethan Uys, Judah Townsend and Joshua Perry from St Benedict’s represented the school at the 2017 St Benedict’s u-11 Invitational Tennis Festival held on July 8 and 9.

The four finished as runners-up for the tournament.

There was great support from all the participating schools namely St Stithians, St John’s, St David’s, St Peter’s, Cornwall Hill, Pretoria-Oos and Louw Geldenhuys.

The schools were divided into two groups and the singles matches were decided over nine games. All of the games won were counted to determine the final positions.

The group stage was followed by cross-section playoffs where the singles matches were decided over 11 games.

In the semi-finals, St Benedict’s beat Cornwall Hill 30-14 and then St Stithians beat St Benedict’s 32-12 in the final to defend their title.

Joshua Perry played number four for St Benedict’s and was unbeaten throughout the festival.

In the overall final results, St Benedict’s placed second.

The young tennis players gave their absolute best and competed wholeheartedly.
