Top results at Buffalo

The school had a successful day of racing during the heats and managed to secure boats into all the finals for the races entered.

The Buffalo Regatta is an annual event held in East London every year.

School, university and open clubs are invited to race.

St Andrew’s School for Girls took a total of 31 girls, which included the school’s U/16 and Open age groups.

The school had a successful day of racing during the heats and managed to secure boats in all the finals for the races entered.

The finals were then raced on the Saturday.

The U/16 age group won the scull, double and quad events and placed second in the four.

The Open age group girls won the second quad, the first pair, first four and first quad events and placed third in the first eight, third in the first pair, third in the first double, second in the second scull and fourth in the first scull.

The results meant the girls placed in almost every event they were entered in.

The girls managed these results despite the injuries, illness and weather conditions experienced over the three days of racing.

Between the heats and finals of the Buffalo regatta, there was another regatta, the Selborne sprints, held on the Friday taking place over 500m and not the standard 2 000m distance.

The heats were raced on the Friday morning where once again the girls rowed themselves into all the finals for the events they were entered in.

The finals where raced in the afternoon.

Unfortunately, due to illness and injuries, some of the girls could not compete in some of the finals but the girls still had a fun afternoon of sprinting.

The girls won the first eight and placed second in the second scull, U/16 four and first pair and third place in the U/16 scull event.
