Netball tournament a hit with pupils

The mini-netball tournament held at Bishop Bavin was a success, with nine schools competing in the tournament on May 27.

“The day went very well,” said Ms Ruchelle Rheeder, the netball coordinator for Bishop Bavin.

The tournaments are hosted at different schools each week and the event falls into the D13 category.

“The tournament was played as a round robin and just for fun, so no score was kept,” said Miss Rheeder.

In the last game of the day, Holy Rosary School from Edenvale played against St Dunstan’s College from Benoni.

Both teams gave it their all and the players played to the best of their ability.

“The weekly tournaments take place every Friday and help develop a love for netball,” said Ms Sandra Ferreia, Holy Rosary School’s U/9 team coach.

“The game went well. The tournament was really fun and well organised,” said Ms Bianca van der Walt, St Dunstan’s coach.
