Edgemead dominates bowls competition

The talent, especially from smaller clubs, was clearly evident on the day.

The Edenvale Bowling Club hosted the Warwick Bowls South Africa Men’s National Championships event.

The event took place from May 16 to 24.

Bowlers came from across the country to compete in the fours, pairs and singles tournaments.

Edenvale’s club president, Gerald May, said a high standard of bowls was displayed on the greens.

“In the semi-finals and the finals, we saw some highly skilled players. This was largely due to the playing surface provided,” said Gerald.

He said the talent, especially from smaller clubs, was clearly evident.

“The tournament belonged to the Edgemead Club from Cape Town, as its players won both the pairs and the fours events,” said Gerald.
