Bedfordview’s Logan Stoltz looks to pro tennis down the line (Video)

Stoltz credits his older brother, who is also a tennis player, as the main reason he started playing.

Logan Stoltz, top player at the Armstrong Tennis Academy in Bedfordview, has beaten a top-ranked player in the ITF J5 Potchefstroom 2020 tournament, and now he has his eye on going professional.
The 17-year-old is home schooled and in Grade 11.
Stoltz credits his older brother, who is also a tennis player, as the main reason he started playing.
He has been playing at the Bedfordview-based academy for a few years.

“At the ITF J5 Potchefstroom in February, I beat a top-ranked player from Israel.
“I was really proud of this. I could feel my hard work was paying off.”

“It definitely gave me confidence to go into my next match. I was less stressed after that win,” he said.
He has also made friends with other international players.

Stoltz has been training throughout lockdown.
“I haven’t been able to return to the tennis courts as yet.
“I try to keep my body in shape so that I will be ready to embrace the sport again,” said Stoltz.

He said his training includes skipping for 30 minutes, sit ups, push ups, squats and sprints.
“Even though I am training physically, I look forward to training on the court again, as well as the social aspect of the sport.”

He looks up to Novak Djokovic as a role model.
“I love his attitude on and off the court. He is so dedicated to the sport. I grew up watching him play and want to accomplish what he has.”

For his future career in the sport, Stoltz said he hopes to go professional.
“Professional tennis is my long-term goal, while my short-term goal is to be accepted into a division one college in America, playing tennis.”
