Great effort from SA not enough to claim victory

South Africa made poor decisions defensively.

South Africa’s wheelchair basketball stars took on Egypt as both teams were looking to get their second place win in the Afro Paralympic qualifiers on March 7.

Despite a great effort, the national team lost the game played at Mandeville Indoor Sports Centre to their opponents. In a fast pace physical match, South Africa controlled more of the play and threatened to pull away, but Egypt did not give up.

South Africa extended the lead by another six points in the third quarter to give themselves the lead on points.

They used their advantages in the fight to take second place but Egypt came out with a vengeance at the start of the fourth.

South Africa made poor decisions defensively, which put them behind on points.

South Africa ended losing by five points to Egypt. The score was Egypt 64-59 South Africa.
