Inaugural run attracts over 440 runners

Event director of Greenstone Hill Parkrun, Trevor Salzwedel, said the new event helps volunteers spread the workload of the demanding movement.

A new Parkrun opened at Greenstone Hill recently and it helps to reduce volumes for surrounding parkruns.

Event director of Greenstone Hill Parkrun, Trevor Salzwedel, said the new event helps volunteers spread the workload of the demanding movement.

“Starting up a new parkrun takes volunteers. Without volunteers, it would not be possible.”

Parkrun brings communities together by enjoying a morning run or walk.

“We welcome more volunteers as there are never too many,” said Salzwedel.

Local Greenstone Hill running club also made an appearance for the first run.

Over 440 people attended the first run.

The start and the end of the run are on the corner of Hereford Road and Stoneridge Drive.

“For a beautiful parkrun, we would like to clear the route from the rubble left behind from construction,” said Salzwedel.

The route is one of the more interesting parkruns in terms of difficulty.

“It lives up to its name Greenstone ‘Hill’. It seems fairly flat until you take on the challenge,” said the event director.
