U-19s go head to head in SASCFA Invitational Festival

The tournament is sure to grow in 2020 with KZN A defending their a title.

The South African School Combined Football Associations (SASCFA) Invitational Festival was hosted at Bedfordview Country Club from September 27 to 29. Eight school association teams came together to duke it out for the u-19 division.

The festival included participation from the KwaZulu-Natal High Schools’ Football Association, BCC Football Club, Ekurhuleni High School Football and North District Schools Association.

The festival began on September 27 with the opening match between Cape North District B and Ekurhuleni B, where Ekurhuleni lost 1-0.

Steve Bezuidenhout from Soccer Tech said the final saw KZN A and KZN B battle it out in a tense and physical affair, with five yellow cards in the match.

He said neither team saw themselves as the underdogs.

“Despite both sides creating chances and KZN B putting the A side under late pressure, the game came down to a penalty shoot-out, where KZN A took the win,” said Bezuidenhout.

Cape North A finished in third place and Cape North B beat JHB North B, winning the plate.
