Local karate students go international

The karate students competed in two different events, one in Namibia and one in Botswana.

Five karatekas from Michael Roetz Karate Institute in Edenvale represented SA abroad and were presented with their protea colours.

Four members from Michael Roetz Karate Institute competed in an international karate event in Namibia: Cloadia Dobson, Jarod Wade, Renstia Roetz and Liesl Louhan.

Results for the Namibia event are as follows:

• Cloadia Dobson first place kata

• Jarod Wade first place kumite

• Renstia Roetz first place kumite

• Liesl Louhan first place kata and second place kumite

In the Botswana event Marinda Roetz competed in kumite and received a second place.
