All systems go for the year’s LPL

Lenasia Premier League comes to town for the year’s local action cricket. Topshot Cricket Academy will look to take reigns on proceedings with the Tasmanian Devils outfit.

The Bedfordview-based Topshot Cricket Academy will be in charge of the Tasmanian Devils Franchise for this year’s addition of the Lenasia Premier League (LPL).

The LPL is a shortened, fast-paced and explosive tournament derived from the hugely popular T20 cricket format. There are eight franchise teams which compete and which fans can support across the junior tournament, and a further six teams which comprise the senior tournament.

Teams consist of 14 players with only 11 on the field at any given time. Eleven can bat, however, there are rolling substitutes to use at a team’s disposal. Dates, venues and age groups for the 2019 LPL edition are as follows:

• Juniors Tournament – u-12, u-14 and u-16 at Queens High School on July 20, 21, 27 and 28; August 3 and 4.

• u-19 Tournament at Old Edwardian Cricket Club on August 10, 11, 17 and 18.

• Seniors Tournament at Old Edwardian Cricket Club on August 24, 25 and 31; September 1, 7, 8, 14 and 15.
