Edenglen learners take to the track

For both of the boys, motocross is more than a sport. It gives them the opportunity to meet new people and travel South Africa.

Two Edenglen Primary School learners are set to leave the competition in their dust after receiving sponsorship from Biker’s Warehouse.

Friends Blake Osner and Joshua Williams received the sponsorship following their achievements in the last racing season.

Joshua took several podium positions in his age group at a variety of events including the inland series.

“Joshua had a bit of a bad start to the year but he did well and made up the points over the season,” said Joshua’s father, Marc.

Proud fathers Jason Osner and Marc Williams stand behind their sons Blake and Joshua who are set to take the new motocross season head-on.

Like Joshua, Blake also had a good first year racing at the regional level and gaining the necessary experience.

This year Blake hopes to excel building upon the knowledge and the experience of the past season.

“I enjoy the fun that I have while at races. I make new friends and see South Africa,” said Blake.

“What I enjoy about the sport is how fun it can be,” added Joshua.

“I love the adrenaline rush on the track and getting air on the big jumps.”

Marc said the sponsorship is the first big sponsor for the pair and will help the boys’ motocross careers.

“Bikers Wharehouse generally sponsors enduro riders but when we approached them they were interested in Joshua,” said Marc.

He said the sponsor was interested in other young talented riders and signed on Blake.

“We are very excited for the year ahead. We hope to achieve some great things,” said Jason, Blake’s father.

He said the boys will compete in national and regional races and could go through to some championships.
