Podium positions for netball stars

“They played unbelievably well in the gruelling two-day competition.”

Seventeen Eastern Gauteng Provincial Indoor Netball players were recently selected to play in an international netball tournament Florida, USA.

The players are learners in the Bedfordview and Edenvale area. They competed against 10 other teams from Texas, Florida, Canada, KwaZulu-Natal and the United Kingdom.

The u-15 and u-14 teams came second and third respectively in the Universal Cup Tournament.

All of the girls received personal training and coaching from Vicki Wilson, a retired international player from Australia.

Wilson is currently the head coach for the Fiji netball team.

“They played unbelievably well in the gruelling two-day competition,” said Michelle Saville, South African coordinator of the two teams.

“They received compliments for their behaviour, their willingness to help and guide weaker players and the high standard of their play.”

U-15 player Megan Holland was awarded the trophy for Player of the Tournament.
