2018 marks the fifth year the competition was held. It was originally held with the intention of raising funds for the 2015 World Championships.

The competition was formerly known as the Accumulo Rainbow Trips.

This year the event was sponsored by Ultimate Performance and attracted numerous bowlers.

Desiree Levin, one of the event coordinators, said the competition was designed to be a humbling event.

“The competition is unique worldwide, and as a result, has attracted much interest and grown exponentially in the five years since it has originated.”

The competition made use of Edenvale’s three greens and Lombardy’s one green.

Shield winners of the Rainbow Trips bowling competition was the Cocky Canoes team; Desiree Levin, Andre Momberga and Jonty Rhodes. Absent: Carmen Fourie.

To keep spirits high each team was given a fun name.

Results of the competition were as follows:

• Cup winners – Sensational Seaweed team (Graham Raper, Margie Robertson, Dolf Scheepers and Fonny Meyeridricks).

• Shield winners – Cocky Canoes (Desiree Levin, Andre Momberg, Jonty Rhodes and Carmen Fourie).

• Plate winners – Marvellous Melons (Desiree Levin, Johan Engelbrecht, Johannes, Gerald May and Ina Rowles).
