Taxi association donates much-needed kit

“The donation has really boosted the players’ confidence.”

Lethabong Taxi Association made a donation of 18 sets of soccer kit to Ekurhuleni soccer club FC Forever.

The donation was made on September 12 at Edenvale Sports Grounds.

Co-founder of the club Melusi Zulu said the association donated shorts, shirts, shoes, shin pads and a goalkeeper uniform.

The team, which was founded in 2003, is in its second season of the Castle League.

Before moving up to to the Castle League the club played in the Super League.

“The donation has really boosted the players’ confidence,” said Zulu.

“They know people believe in them.”

Public relations officer of the association John Maisela said Zulu approached them and asked for assistance with the kit.

“We decided to help the team because they are part of our community and over the years the community has helped the association.”

He said this was the second big donation the association made this year.

During Mandela Month, they donated clothes and money to Little Eden Society.

Maisela said the association will keep on assisting the community where it can.

“The kit has really helped us. It will make things easier when we play away games,” said Zulu.

“The executive committee of the club is hoping to grow it, in order to do that we need sponsors from the community.”

The club is based at Wattville Stadium in Benoni but hopes to have its own academy one day.
