Lions hone their skills at EHS

"Things are heating up, the team members know their drills."

The Edenvale Lions basketball team was recently spotted hard at work practicing for the upcoming Ashraf Lodewyk Memorial Basketball Tournament.

The Lions were practising at Edenvale High School on March 24.

The tournament to be hosted by the WITS University will be held between April 23 and 29.

Edson Makavan, a founder and coach of the club said the teams are well-prepared for the tournament.

“Things are heating up, the players know their drills,” said Makavana.

The club which wins the tournament will receive prize money.

If the Edenvale Lions win the tournament, the prize money will be used for the basketball academy the club is planning to build at the Edenvale Sports Grounds.

Makavana said the club is still looking for sponsorship and funding to build the academy.
