Simunye Cup to strengthen African unity

The focus of this year’s tournament will be ‘sports against drug and alcohol abuse’.

African Diaspora Hope (Adhope) in partnership with the City of Johannesburg is calling on soccer teams to take part in the Simunye Cup 2018 for African Unity.

The friendly tournament will see 54 African amateur soccer teams facing off against each other.

Teams and players representing various African nations, based in South Africa, are encouraged to participate.

The tournament will give teams the opportunity to represent their nation.

The focus of this year’s tournament will be ‘sports against drug and alcohol abuse’.

The purpose of the tournament is to strengthen solidarity among South Africans and Africans.

Kicking off on March 10, the tournament will continue through April and end on May 26.

Matches will only be played on weekends and public holidays.

Prizes up for grabs include R15 000 for first place, R7 000 for second place and R3 000 for third place.

Registration for the tournament will cost a team R2 000.
