Parktown bowl their way to victory

"There was great camaraderie amongst the players."

Old boys from three Johannesburg high schools faced off against one another in a recent bowls tournament.

Part of the tournament held at Jeppe Quondam Bowling Club saw past learners from Jeppe High School for Boys, Parktown Boys’ High School and King Edward VII School compete in pairs.

The old boys competed against each other on December 10.

Keith Anderson of Jeppe Quondam Sports Club said the teams were playing for the Jeppe Cup.

“The pairs went well. There was great camaraderie amongst the players,” said Anderson.

Two bowlers scrutinise the delivery of another bowler during a tournament held at the Jeppe Quondam Bowling Club.

Parktown won with 11 points, Jeppe placed second with nine points and King Edwards came third with four points.

Anderson said this year was the first time Jeppe lost in the pairs category.

Alan Lawson of the Old Edwardians Society said the pairs tournament was great fun.

The mixed and fours categories were played at the grounds of the Old Edwardians Society and at the Old Parktonian Sports Club.
