The number of clubs fielding teams in the league has doubled from four to eight over the last decade.

Participating teams include Witfield Park, Marmanet, Allen Park, Allan Woodrow, Elphin Lodge, Rynpark, St Georges and Arbor Village.

Singles champion Worrall said there was a possibility of new teams joining the league in 2018.

“Each team consists of six players; two singles and two pairs. Games are played on a home-and-away basis throughout the year.”

According to Worrall, the players are fiercely competitive, with highest breaks and highest scores being recorded.

“The snooker league is always looking for retirement homes with a full-size snooker table to join the league,” he added.
