Edenvale High School crowned Champions at the JVW Schools league playoffs

The 2017 Janine Van Wyk Girls Schools League was an exciting and competitive season.

The 2017 Janine Van Wyk Girls Schools League was an exciting and competitive season.

The playoffs took place at Bedfordview Country Club over the long weekend September 23-24.

A total of 15 open teams, nine u-17 teams and seven u-15 teams qualified for the playoffs.

The league also invited eight teams to join in the weekend.

The final league playoffs were a spectacular showcase of the number of young talented girls the schools have to offer.

Only one team per age group was crowned champion which sets the bar high for the upcoming seasons.

Following two consecutive days of football, the winners were:

Edenvale High u-15 team at the JVW playoffs.

Open teams:

• First place – Edenvale High School.

• Second place – Rand Girls’ School.

• Third place – St Stithians.

U-17:

• First place – Hoërskool Vorentoe.

• Second Place – Reddam House Bedfordview.

• Third Place – Sandringham High School.

U-15:

• First place – Edenvale High School.

• Second place – Mondeor High School.

• Third Place – Parktown Girls.

Lauren Duncan, the Janine van Wyk (JVW) Girl Football Development’s project manager, thanked the City of Ekurhuleni Sports and Recreation for their effortless help and continuous work and dedication to aid the upliftment of the game.
