Eagles take bronze in SuperSport Wheelchair Basketball Series

BEZ VALLEY – In overtime, the local lads proved just too strong for the Pumas to take the game 67 to 63 to become the 2017 bronze medalists.

The Mandeville team, Diesel Electric Services Eagles beat the Ricoh Pumas 67-63 to take the 2017 bronze medal during the finals’ weekend of the SuperSport Wheelchair Basketball Series.

The Mandeville team, Diesel Electric Services Eagles beat the Ricoh Pumas 67-63 in the bronze playoff.

The game was played at the Mandeville Indoor Sports Centre in Bez Valley on September 9 when the home team took third place.

The bronze playoff was competed for by the former six times SSWBS Champions, Ricoh Pumas against the two-time former SSWBS Champions, the Eagles.

The Pumas took an early lead in the first and second quarter leading 15-11 and 16-10 respectfully taking the half by 31-21 points.

With an amazing comeback, the Eagles evened the score 38 all at the end of the third quarter.

During the dying seconds in the final quarter, Eagles scored with seconds to go to even the game at 55 all.

In overtime, the local lads proved just too strong for the Pumas to take the game 67-63 to become the 2017 bronze medalists.

In the finals, the North West AngloGold Ashanti Lions beat the KZN Wheelchair Marlins by 57-52 to take the SuperSport Series Championship Title for 2017.
