Dancing her way to success

Derren has also been accepted into the JYB senior cast for the 40th anniversary show 'Ruby Suite' to held in August.

Derren Schoombie recently returned from the Grahamstown National Arts Festival, where she was selected to dance, as part of the Johannesburg Youth Ballet (JYB) Company.

The Holy Rosary School Grade 10 learner danced in a ballet of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the festival.

Schoombie has also been accepted into the JYB senior cast for the 40th anniversary show, Ruby Suite, to be staged in August.

Ruby Site will be staged at the UJ Arts Centre Theatre between August 10 and 13, and will feature a variety of dance styles.

Schoombie is a passionate dancer. In June this year she completed her Advanced One ballet exam and is now qualified do her ballet teacher’s course, once she finishes school.
