Inspiring young cricketers

On April 26, the first ever Lions sleep out at the Bidvest Wanderers Stadium in Illovo took place.

Hirsch’s were part of the sponsorship team that made the aspiring young cricketers’ dreams come true.

The Bizhub Highveld Lions cricket team partnered with Hirsch’s Cloud Nine and Rest Assured, as well as Konica Minolta, Sun International, Cricket South Africa, Circa, Imperial Toyota, Dairymaid and Market Caterers to organise a sleep out at the Bullring for 100 young aspiring cricket players from the Gauteng Cricket Board (GCB) amateur cricket development programme.

The event included interactive coaching clinics, workshops and other activities to inspire the young cricketers to keep on working at their cricketing dreams.

The atmosphere at the Wanderers stadium was electrifying as 100 young players ran on to the field ready for an unforgettable evening.

When they arrived, the children received a Bizhub shirt and Hirsch’s and Imperial Toyota goodie bags. After settling in, the fun and games began when KFC handed out some cricket gear for the youngsters to enjoy a cricket match with some of the Highveld Lions Cricket Players.

With the 100 kids famished after a few rounds of cricket, they headed up to the Bizhub room, where they got to enjoy dinner followed by a movie.

At the end of the evening Hirsch’s, together with Cloud Nine, announced that they would be supplying a bed to each of the youngsters that they would get to take home after the sleepover.

“As a company, we are conscious of our need to build and maintain a credible profile as responsible corporate citizens. That is why we are committed to supplying 100 beds for the sleepover,” said Alan Hirsch, CEO of Hirsch’s Homestore.

“Our aim is to support and uplift these young players and it will start off with a good night’s sleep.’’

It was a fantastic evening of supporting the refinement of cricket development in South Africa and enabling the next generation of future stars to access meaningful opportunities to pursue professional careers.
