All 42km results are automatically sent to Comrades as a potential qualifying time.

Thousands of runners came together on March 12 for the Sarens Edenvale Marathon.

A 4km Kidneybeanz fun run also took place on the day.

The event, which takes place annually, kicked off on Linksfield Road and ended at Edenvale High School’s sports grounds.

Also taking part in the marathon was 85-year-old Ms Diedre Larkin, from the Randburg Harriers.

She took part in the 10km Shipshape run.

Runners and walkers use the marathon as a qualifier for the Two Oceans as well as the Comrades marathons.

All 42km results are automatically sent to Comrades as a potential qualifying time.

The event supports a number of local charities.

All proceeds of the 4km run are donated to the Kidneybeanz Trust, a Non-Profit Organisation that supports children with lifev threatening kidney diseases as well as their families.
