Sarens Marathon to set off

Costs will vary per an entry and additional fees must be paid to receive a gold medal.

The Rand Road Warriors club is proud to present the Sarens Edenvale Marathon.

The Edenvale-based club will be hosting the event on March 12.

Participants will be able to take part in either a marathon, a half marathon, the ShipShape 10km run or the Kidneybeanz 4km run.

Results of the 42.2 kilometre marathon will be used as a potential qualifying time for the Comrades Marathon.

The race will set off from Edenvale High School on Linksfield Road.

The first three finishers and category winners will receive gold medals.

All runners who finish the marathon in less than three hours, and the half marathon in less than one-and-a-half hours, will receive a silver medal.

All other finishers will receive bronze medals.

Proceeds from the 4km run will be donated to The Kidneybeanz Trust, a non-profit organisation.

Community members not participating in the runs can enjoy food and market stalls on the day.

Pre-entries will be available in-store at Sweatshop in Dunkeld, Bedfordview, Irene or at Sportsmans Warehouse in Stoneridge, Boksburg, ParkMeadows, The Glen and Woodmead.

Alternatively, entries can be made at New Balance in Boksburg.
