Grand Master holds seminar

Some younger members of various Johannesburg based-clubs also participated for two hours of the seminar.

The Magua Taekwon-Do clubs for Taekwon-Do South Africa recently hosted Grand Master Trevor Nicholls, who is a 9th Dan and vice president of the International Taekwon-Do Federation for a seminar.

He was joined by his son Mr Reece Nicholls, who is a two-time sparring world champion and multiple European champion.

The six hour seminar was held at the Wits Education Campus in Parktown.

Some younger members of various Johannesburg-based clubs also participated for two hours of the seminar.

The knowledge gained over the day was valuable and will assist in raising the South African standard.

The seminar covered many aspects including sparring, traditional hand and kicking techniques, as well as pad work with an emphasis on power generation.

During his visit Grand Master Trevor Nicholls also graded five candidates to fourth Dan.

The 4th Dan grading is significant in Taekwon-Do, taking the holder to expert level.

The candidates Avishkar Ajoodha, Selvan Pandaram, Hugh Thomson, Natasha Voorhout & Ruan Hageman had a tough challenge and also had to hand in a thesis on any aspects pertaining Taekwon-Do.
