Athletics runs through Moloi’s veins

JEPPE – Jeppe Police Station detective warrant officer looks forward to this year's Comrades Marathon.

Hlomisa Sydney Moloi, a detective warrant officer at Jeppe Police Station is looking forward to participating in the 90km Comrades Marathon this year.

He said he was inspired by watching elderly people on TV participating in the race.

Moloi said he started by running the Slow-Mag marathon in Benoni. “I had so much passion for the marathon. I would sit home and watch it on television the whole day. I knew that I would also participate one day,” Moloi said.

“I had to do something after leaving soccer. I then started going to the gym with my colleague. In 2013 I started participating in athletics.”

Moloi participated in the Comrades Marathon from Pietermaritzburg to Durban and finished in a time of 10:28:00 on 31 May last year.

“It is a matter of participating and grilling yourself in marathons.”
