Runners gear up for PnP Marathon

The marathon, which is a qualifier for both the Old Mutual Two Oceans Ultra and the Comrades Marathon, will give all age groups the opportunity to participate in the event.

The 2017 Pick n Pay Marathon, presented by Momentum, will take place on February 12 at Saheti School in Senderwood, Johannesburg.

The marathon, which is a qualifier for both the Old Mutual Two Oceans Ultra and the Comrades Marathon, will give all age groups the opportunity to participate in the event.

The 34th event will have a variety of marathons for runners to compete in.

The various distances include:

  •  A 42km marathon.
  •  A 21km half-marathon.
  •  An 8km fun-run.
  •  A 4km fun-run.
  •  A 420 metre fun-run for children between the ages of four and 10 years old.

The entry fee for the 42.2km event is R180. Runners will have to pay R150 to participate in the 21.1km marathon.

Participants of the fun run will pay R50.

The marathon and half marathon events are limited to 6 000 runners only. No late entries will be accepted.

The 4km and the 8km fun-runs are limited to 3 000 runners.

The starting time for the marathon and half marathon runners is 6am.

The fun-run starts at 6.30am.
