The Northern Irishman will, on the final day, need to weather the challenge posed by tournament leader Graeme Storm who leads by three shots after he extended his bogey-free run at the SA Open to 41 holes with a score of 67 that moved him to 17-under.
The Englishman has a healthy advantage over the tournament favourite, but the popular McIlroy (14-under) will not back down without a fight.
He has made 12 birdies on the back nine this week, which could set up an entertaining display of golf down the final stretch tomorrow (Sunday).
