Edenvale swimmers shine in Maputo

The three teams which represented northern, Central and Eastern Gauteng traveled to the event together.

Swimmers, Clayton Malaza, Savannah Mitchell, Murray Copeland and Kyle Mckenzie were recently selected to represent Eastern Gauteng at a sprint gala which was held in Maputo from October 21 to October 23.

Local swimmers perform well

Savannah, Murray and Kyle could not compete at the event due to prior commitments.

The work ethics instilled in the Aquatic Academy High Performance squad has seen swimming from the Edenvale and Kempton Park athletes raised to a different level.

The squad’s swimmers often do not have the pleasure of a full weekend off and have enjoyed a diverse selection of events and galas, ranging from Sprint to Long Distance events.

Coach Liz is now a recognised, certified Level 5 coach, with the American Swimming Coaches Association.

This is the largest coaching association in the world.

Swimmers take on regionals

The team has also entered a different league and their gala results have lead to a winning streak, achieved by the SSA Registered club ESP.

During the season to date, a number of local swimmers qualified for regional and national events, which will be held in March and April 2017.

Savannah Mitchell and Kyle McKenzie achieved their Youth National Qualifiers.

Savannah Mitchell, Murray Copeland and Kyle Mckenzie qualified for the South African Junior National Qualifiers.

Keara Bothma, Jessica Burgess, Kerri-lyn Claase, Colette Fourie, Ciaran Le Goff, Jonathan Smith, Nicholas Smith, Ashleigh Stock and Caitlin Stott achieved Level 3 Qualifiers.

Academy novice team wins at Prestige Gala

Phillipa Austin, Wyatt Banks, Brooklynn Bohler, Danika Brechenmacher, Kerrin Burgess, Morgan Corns, Clayton Malaza, Mikayle Pon, Adrian Ristow, Storm Ryder, Savannah Sheerin and Zoe Stock achieved Level 2 Qualifiers.

Kyle Mckenzie, Savannah Mitchell, Murray Copeland, Nicholas Smith, Jessica Burgess, Colette Fourie, Ashleigh Stock, Adrian Ristow qualified as Provincial (District) Swimmers.
