Edenvale Bowling Club gets club of the year nomination

The Edenvale Bowling Club (EBC) was once again nominated Club of the Year at the official opening of the Ekurhuleni District Bowls Association on October 15.

The Edenvale Bowling Club (EBC) was once again nominated Club of the Year at the official opening of the Ekurhuleni District Bowls Association on October 15.
Mr Colin Winton, a member of Edenvale Bowling Club, said the main reason for awarding EBC this honour was probably because the members won numerous prizes in district competitions throughout the previous season.
“The club attracts many new members each year due to the high standard of bowls, three superb greens and the variety of bowls tournaments and social events held throughout the year,”said Mr Winton.
Prospective new members are invited to take part in free coaching sessions held on Saturday mornings at 9:30am.
Mr Winton said although there has been a noticeable fall-off for social bowls, which he hopes will improve when the temperature drops, the bowls calendar for the club is heavy as can be seen below.
On October 22 a well attended charity bowls morning for bowlers and non-bowlers was held in aid of Edenvale Care Centre Hospice.
On October 29, the first Saturday League games for the district were played.
The second round of the Power Ball Twilight Trips, followed by a braai and Prize Giving for those members who won club competitions during the year, will be held on November 4.
On November 6, the first round of the District Fours will take place, followed by the Perch Pairs on November 20.
