Acrobatic and trampoline gymnasts of the Edenvale-based Gym Masters Gymnasts and Masters Gymnasts clubs took part in the North Zone trampoline and Gauteng provincial acrobatic championships which were held this month.

The trampolinists took part in the very competitive North Zone event, which brings together the best trampolinists from the five northernmost provinces of South Africa. Most of the trampolinists competed on both the Double-Mini and Euro trampoline events, in various levels and age groups. As the gymnasts represented the Eastern Gauteng team, they received regional colours for their accomplishments.

The acrobats competed in the Gauteng acrobatic championship, which was also a qualifier for the annual SA Gymnastics Games. The majority of the clubs’ groups won medals in their respective categories and qualified for the SA Gymnastics Games.

The gymnasts train at the Highway Gardens Community Centre, coached by the Demianenko family and assisted by coaches Michelle Sharples and Kimona Moodley.
