One thousand runners take part in parkrun

The parkrun is a free weekly run that takes place at Gillooly's Farm in Bedfordview.

On September 24 over 1 000 runners took part in the 23rd Gillooly’s parkrun.

The weekly parkrun, which had 1 045 participants from 27 various sporting/athletics clubs, saw 189 first-time runners participate while 237 people recorded personal bests.

The top three men for the parkrun were:

Mr Keegan Dally of Tukkies Running Club, who crossed the line in 17:24.

Second place Mr Andrew Leeburn, who finished with 19:14.

Mr Marius Carstens from the Alberton Athletics Club in third place after he crossed the line with 20:43.

The top three women participants for the parkrun were:

Ms Janica Oberholzer was the first woman over the line with a time of 23:54 (35th overall).

Ms Amica de Jager who completed the race in 24:52 was the second woman to cross the line (50th overall).

Ms Karen Gale who came 53rd overall finished with a time of 24:58, She was the third woman to finish.

The top man and woman for the annual points competition were Mr Bradley Oakley-Brown from Fit 2000 Athletics Club and Mrs Heidi Williams-Sutton from the Greenstone Hill Running Club with 2 241 points.

At the parkrun the following runners recorded the best Age Grade scores:

  •  Mr Keegan Dally was graded 78.74% for the time 17:24.
  •  Mr Marius Carstens was graded 76.75% for the time 20:43.
  •  Mr Anthony Rausch was graded 74.07% for the time 21:51.
