Edenvale to host international tournament

"It is an ideal time to see young players in action,"

The Edenvale Bowling Club will be hosting an International quadrangular tournament, which will start on July 28 and end on July 30.

The tournament will see teams from Zimbabwe, Namibia and the South African Proteas competing in the fours, triples, pairs and singles competitions for the three days.

Seniors, open players and juniors will all compete with one another.

“This will be the first time that a competition of this magnitude has been held at Edenvale and the club is proud to be host to our visiting bowlers,” said the secretary of the Edenvale Bowling Club, Mrs Judy Hall.

She said visitors are welcome to come and watch the tournament free of charge. Ample parking will be available. Bar and kitchen facilities will also be available throughout the tournament.

“It is an ideal time to see young players in action, dispelling the myth that bowls is only for the elderly, and indeed also see the skill and dexterity displayed by the more seasoned players,” said Mrs Hall

Playing times commence from 9am on each day and are expected to finish around 4.30pm.

For more details of the South African players involved, log onto www.bowlssa.co.za and locate International Quadrangular on the page under international tournaments.
