Local karate team gets provincial colours

Students from the Michael Roetz Karate Institute in Edenvale competed in the Karate South Africa-KSA All Styles Competition in Durban.

After receiving their Gauteng Provincial Colours, they were selected to take part in their respective divisions for the South African Championships.

Marinda Roetz, an SA champion, won the girls 12-13 years, under 53kg Kumite category.

Cheichita Grobler placed second in the girls 12-13 years, under 47kg Kumite category.

Michaela Mion placed third in the girls 10-11 years, under 45kg Kumite category.

Renstia Roetz, an SA champion, won the Junior Girls 16-17 years, under 53kg Kumite category.

Kelly Marcel finished in third place in the junior girls 16-17 years, under 53kg Kumite category.
